Special Interest Groups

Unpuzzle your past through participation in special interest groups offered as a benefit of your membership in the Lee County Genealogical Society. These small, informal groups of interest to researchers include:

1.   Beginners Study Group – beginning approaches to genealogical problem solving.
     
2.   English Roots Group - for members researching ancestors in England.
     
3   Family Tree Maker Group – Sharing, showing operations and answering questions by various means including laptop computers, of Family Tree Maker program.
     
4.   Genealogy Online Group – discussion and sharing about using the Internet as a research technique.
     
5.   German Roots Group – for members researching ancestors from Germany and other German-speaking countries.
     
6   Irish Roots Group – for members researching ancestors from Ireland.
     
7   New York Group – of interest to researchers whose ancestors lived in New York.
     
8.   Pine Island Group – an informal discussion group for genealogists living on Pine Island.
     
9.   Quebec Group – for members researching French-Canadian ancestors.
     
10.   Twigs North – a forum for discussion, sharing and problem solving. This groups meets in North Fort Myers.
     
11.   Twigs South – a forum for discussion, sharing and problem solving. This group meets in South Fort Myers.
     
12.   Writers' Group – for members wishing to go beyond recording names, dates and places, to interweave interesting facts about their ancestors' lives, placing individuals in a social and historical context.
