Mr. Neill will speak on four topics:

 
1. 

An Un-Natural Process: American Naturalization Records

Hear an overview of American Naturalization Records from the Colonial Era to World War II, including minors and children.

2. 

Discovering Your Own Migration Trail and Establishing Your Ancestor's Neighborhood

Take a look at records (largely pre-1820) that can be used to determine the migration trail your ancestor took, and the individuals who likely were with him wherever he lived.

Using Records from the Family History Library When You Don't Know the Language

Hear suggestions for using records that are not in English.

4.  

Researching Your European Origins Online

Hear how to use the Internet focusing on your post-1820 immigrants.

 
 
 
About Our Speaker:
 

Michael John Neill, a native of West-Central Illinois, has been researching his family for over twenty years, spending numerous hours in local courthouses, archives and libraries. He has written on genealogical research and methods since and has presented genealogical lectures and workshops since 1993 including the National Genealogical Society, the Federation of Genealogical Societies and GENTECH. Mr. Neill is a regular columnist for the Ancestry Daily News. He is a course designer/instructor for the Genealogical Institute of Mid-America and serves as a Federation of Genealogical Societies Board member. He is a faculty member in the Mathematics Department at Carl Sandburg College in Carthage, Illinois.
