Newspaper In Education (NIE)

In 2007, the Society joined in partnership with The News-Press and their Newspaper In Education (NIE) program. Our sponsorship dollars helped to place 2,000 copies of The News-Press in area schools. Our sponsorship was recognized throughout the year as a sponsor on the EdVenture page, Southwest Florida's student newspaper. In October the Society designed an activity section for the EdVenture page in connection with Family HIstory Month to bring genealogy awareness to their readers.

Images of millions of records are made available online through Footnote.com and their partnership with the National Archives. The online collections include documents involving the Revolutionary War, Civil War, World War I, World War II and United States Presidents. These documents contain valuable information that will tell you about your ancestors and the times they lived.

The indexes of all collections are free to search online. Some documents such as U.S. Milestone Documents, Project Blue Book, Pennsylvania Archives, Papers of the Continental Congress, Constitutional Convention Records and Correspondence of George Washington are free to view. Other documents can be viewed and downloaded for a fee - either monthly or yearly.
