How Can I Achieve Greater Results with Genealogical Internet Searches?
Fort Myers Library, 2050 Central Avenue, Fort Myers.

This two-part interactive and hands-on program is designed to assist patrons in maximizing their research success using the Internet.

Session 1
(9:30-11:30): Will feature a demonstrative overview of search engines, and search strategies including the use of Boolean and wildcards in your search. The search engines to be discussed include: Google; A-9; Ask.com; Alta Vista; and Dogpile which have all demonstrated a proven track record for success.

Lunch (11:30-12:30): There will be a one-hour break between sessions to allow the computer stations to be rebooted for the afternoon session. Attendees are permitted to bring a sandwich and non-alcoholic drink in a paper bag or box lunch. Consumption of food is allowed only in the meeting room or outside the building.

Session 2
(12:45-2:45): Users will have the opportunity to apply the techniques and strategies used in the morning session. Attendees will be able to save information and word documents to their flash/jump drives.

She has published various journal articles, contributed material for several books. During 2008, she lectured at various conferences and Societies including the United Polish Genealogical Societies Conference, the Colorado Chapter, Palatines to America Spring Seminar, the Sacramento German Genealogy Society and The German Interest Group – Wisconsin at their summer Workshop, Profiles of German Emigrants. Her personal interest is in "putting flesh on the genealogical skeleton" by placing each individual within a proper social and historical context. This is Ms. Johnson's first speaking engagement in Florida. Don't miss her!
